Now that summer is winding down and it’s time to think about feeding kids on-the-go, whether they are headed to school, sports, or other activities, I decided to go through and update my section titled: Foods – Easy Finds For Purchase.
Eating is a whole new ballgame when you get diagnosed with T1D and while having recipes is super important, any busy parent knows we’ve got to know what on-the-go items we can have on hand. This goes for both meals and snacks because we all know, we don’t always have time for the 4-course dinner but it’s nice to have that peanut butter and jelly all ready for when you are flying out the door and need food for the car.
I am always looking for and finding new, interesting foods and snacks for my pantry staples and I feel like I have a wide variety. Brands that I enjoy are Sara Lee Multigrain and Lewis Bakery Keto for bread; Kaizen for rice; Jif and Justin’s for peanut butter (in single servings and bulk servings; Fulfill, Built and Nature Valley for protein bars; Chobani, Stoneyfeld and Too Good for yogurts; Catalina Crunch for protein cereals and snacks; Smucker’s for sugar free jelly; Premier and Fairlife for protein shakes; Maple Grove Farms for sugar free syrup (which I use often in cooking as well as on breakfast foods) and many more. Check out the page for more ideas.
